Głuchy telefon

Od kilku dni chodzę z córką do przedszkola. Jest trochę stresu, bo to pierwsze dni, ale dajemy dzielnie radę. Przypominam sobie moje czasy przedszkolne i pamiętam zabawę w głuchy telefon. Pewnie część z Was pamięta, na czym ta zabawa polega. Pierwsza osoba mówi na ucho drugiej jakieś słowo, zdanie a ostatnia w kolejce mówi na [...]

Sony Mobile servers hit again by hackers

Sony has confirmed that their servers in China were hacked and not less than 400 customers’ details has been looted out by the hackers. A group, calling itself  ’Null\Crew‘  cracked into Sony servers a couple of days ago criticizing Sony’s security measures to keep the website and the customer data secure. They didn’t forget to comment on their brave attempt to hack the servers:

“Sony, we are dearly disappointed in your security. This is just one of eight Sony servers that we have control of. Maybe, just maybe considering IP addresses are available. Maybe, just maybe it’s the fact that not even your customers can trust you. Or maybe, just maybe the fact that you cannot do anything correct technologically.”

Today Sony issued their statement on the website breach and said that the server actually belonged to an unnamed third party and is not directly managed by Sony itself. The company also confirmed that no credit card or banking information was leaked. Sony said that the stolen data is actually the details of only 400 customers that was stored to conduct sales promotions and other events and the situation is nothing serious and is totally under control.

App Promo tip #9: Use contests & promotions to win app visibility

App Promo Tip9 Contests and Promotions 1

In this ninth weekly app promotion tip together with our friends at App Promo, we cover the subject of winning! Specifically, we’re talking about holding contests and promotions.  Whether or not the time of year provides an opportunity to promote your app, or if you choose to create an occasion, using contests or promotions are a great way to draw attention to your apps. Read this article to get promotional ideas, contests tips, and important considerations when awarding prizes.

Leverage the calendar year
You only have to look as far as your calendar to find key marketing opportunities. Promoting your app around events that are relevant to your app niche or purpose is a great way to increase visibility in context to the right audience. Some great, event-based marketing opportunities are:

  • Holidays (Christmas, Valentine’s Day).
  • Festivals (Deepavali, Eid-ul-Fitr).
  • Seasonal milestones (Back to School, Midsummer, Winter).
  • Speaking engagements.
  • Conferences.
  • Industry events.
  • Company anniversaries & milestones.

Promotions during this time can take many forms, but all use the calendar event to form positioning for the market campaign. For Mother’s Day, as an example, you could run a paid media campaign focusing on why Moms use your app. Later on that year, you might run a campaign focused on how this is a must-have app for students during Back to School week.

Identify the event, find true relevance in it as it relates to your product and then run a promotion around it. Some promotion ideas include:

  • Contests.
  • Price changes and discounts.
  • Giveaways.
  • Advertising campaigns.
  • Press releases.
  • Media & blogger outreach

Be mindful of price promotions
Discounting your price, or putting your app on “sale,” is one of those ways to promote your app around a calendar event. But you don’t always need to tie it to a seasonal milestone. Price promotions can take many forms. You can offer your audience a limited offer, free trials, discounts and markdowns or even a giveaway.

It is important that when entering a price promotion you have a plan with clear goals in mind. Before tying in a price change with your contest, analyse the download and usage data, along with the feedback from your users, to see if this is the right thing for your app. If your app is doing well with the pricing model you have established, it may not be the best time to alter the price as part of your promotion. Pricing changes are best used when traffic is low and you are looking to increase new users.

Frequent price changes can signal a weakness or deficiency to your users and competition and can also start to train your audience to wait till there is a sale to purchase so be wary of how many times you go to make a pricing change.

App Promo Tip9 Contests and Promotions 2

The power of contests
There is a reason why contests are the first thing that comes to mind when you start thinking about putting together a promotion for your app. If done right, contests can create a flurry of traffic and downloads due to their time sensitive and often urgent nature. When thinking about running a contest, make sure you have a specific goal in mind. Are you looking for downloads? Activity within the app? Viral sharing? Feedback?

Once you have your goal in mind, it’s time to be creative to come up with the contest model and prizing. Keep these in mind when developing your contest:

  • Keep it simple.
  • Get people engaged.
  • Encourage sharing.
  • Create a sense of urgency.
  • Make it fun and exciting.
  • Keep it legal – know the rules and make sure your users do too.

Ultimately, a contest is only good if people know about it, so part of the contest plan should include how to get the word out. Using a social network like Facebook to run a contest is effective in this way, as interactions with the contest will instantly become available in the participant’s wall, thereby featuring it to their friends.

Awarding prizes
Prizing is a key element in any contest. You will need to gain prizing that is both enticing enough to make people participate while still keeping the prize relevant to your app to ensure that you are attracting the right users. Beyond what the prize is, make sure you understand the legalities around giving it away, especially if the prize is money. Be familiar with contesting regulations in the regions you wish the contest to run in. You can look at the Rules page of the Ericsson Application Awards as an example of the sort of information you’ll need to provide to the public.

Okay Android devs, what kinds of contests and promotions do you have going on right now? Feel free to share what’s worked for you with other developers in the Comments section below.

Kluczowe funkcje Xperia J:

· Stylowe, smukłe wzornictwo (9,2 mm grubości)

· Duży ekran 4.0” FWVGA

· Iluminacje powiadamiające o aktualizacjach statusów z portali

społecznościowych

· Aparat fotograficzny AF o rozdzielczości 5 MP

· Przednia kamera do prowadzenia rozmów, chatu

· Dostępna w kolorach: czarnym, złotym, białym i różowym

The smartphone display redefined: PureMotion HD+

Click here to view the video on YouTube.

The new Nokia Lumia 920 sports a number of innovations, but one we’re especially keen that you don’t miss is the latest technology advancement in smartphone displays, something we’re calling PureMotion HD+.

What does it do and why do you want it? Put simply, it combines four leaps forward into one to deliver the fastest, brightest, most-sensitive smartphone display with the highest pixel density in the industry.

Let’s take that piece by piece.

Faster

normal display

lumia 920

One of the problems with existing LCD displays used on smartphones is that they can’t keep up. While the internal hardware and operating system are fast enough to deliver a full 60 frames-per-second (FPS), the screens themselves lag behind, leading to pixelated video and ghost images appearing as your screen moves.

PureMotion HD+ uses an IPS type LCD display that is also given a higher voltage difference when changing states to produce a clean transition from frame to frame, even when operating at top speeds. This allows the display to deliver a steady 60FPS without any blurring.

Brighter

It’s nearly two years since Nokia delivered the last big step forward in screen brightness in the form of ClearBlack display, a technology to reduce the reflections that can make mobile phones hard to read outside.

PureMotion HD+ adds a high-luminescence mode that works automatically from the phone’s ambient light sensor, improving contrast and brightness outdoors considerably.

More-sensitive

Ever tried using a modern smartphone with gloves on, or with the end of a regular pen? Exactly. It doesn’t work.

sensitive touch

But now it does, PureMotion HD+ incorporates a new super-sensitive touch display that can be used with any of these things.

More pixels: HD+

The Lumia 920’s display has WXGA resolution. HD+ refers to the 768×1280 pixel count and 15:9 aspect ratio. That’s a lot of pixels – lots more than the iPhone 4, with its 640×960 pixels, and even more than the Samsung Galaxy S3, with 720×1280 pixels. The pixel density is higher than either, too, at 332 pixels per inch. (For comparison, the widely praised ‘retina’ display on the iPhone 4 offers 326ppi).

resolution

You might be wondering about the 15:9 aspect ratio. You’re probably more-used to computer and television displays with a 16:9 ratio. The truth is that mobile phones have different usability requirements, and 16:9 means that, with larger screens, it’s a long stretch to move your finger from the top to the bottom. 15:9 is simply better suited to normal human hands.

Need more detail on how it all works? Look no further, since the brains behind the display have put together a white paper that explains and demonstrates the technology, as well as the practical differences it will make for owners.

What’s the key innovation here for you? A display that’s faster, brighter, more sensitive or more packed with pixels?

Gig Apple: The 10 most influential New York bands ever

New York, New York: so good they named it the Music Capital of the World! Music’s not the only thing that’s been rockin’ the Big Apple this week though. So to celebrate the launch of a couple of stunningly innovative new arrivals on the smartphone scene, we’ve put on our disco shoes, tuned our hipster acoustic guitar and selected the most innovative New York bands ever to grace our Lumia playlists. Please put your hands together and make some noise for…

The Velvet Underground

Lou Reed and John Cale, with Andy Warhol at the tiller – need we say more? One of the most critically acclaimed and influential alternative/experimental rock bands of all time, everybody from Sonic Youth to Kraftwerk kowtows to The Velvet Underground – and rightly so.

The New York Dolls

Well, the clue’s in the name. In just four years in the early 1970s, the Dolls mixed punk, rock and glam rock into a musical stew that fed future giants like KISS, Guns N’ Roses and Blondie.

Blondie

Think new-wave and punk with a dash of disco, reggae and rap, throw in a rack of Grammy and Juno Awards and nominations, and you’ve got one of the most enduring NYC acts ever. Where would Madonna be without Debbie Harry?

The Ramones

This manic four-chord quartet from Queens were on the starters’ blocks for the punk-rock revolution, inspiring bands like The Clash, The Dead Kennedys and The Undertones. Blitzkrieg Bop, anyone?

Talking Heads

Frontman David Byrne and producer Brian Eno led his New Wave posse to critical success right through the 1970s and into the 1990s. Also, Radiohead nicked their band name from a song on Talking Heads’ 1986 album, True Stories. True story!

Public Enemy

One of the first hip-hop groups to make it big internationally, Public Enemy’s socially and politically charged lyrics changed the face of their genre – and they were the first band to releae MP3-only albums. Revolutionary!

The Wu-Tang Clan

Staten Island, Brooklyn and the Bronx can all lay claim to the Clan, a group that NME reckon are the greatest collection of rap lunatics to have ever walked the earth. Their influence doesn’t stop at music – they’re also all about sampling, rap personas and slang. Hell, they’ve even got their own video game.

Beastie Boys

Mike D, MCA and Ad-Rock made seven platinum albums (or better) between 1986 and 2004, and in 2012 they became the third rap group ever to get inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Their 2006 album, To The Five Boroughs, is a tribute to New York City itself.

Sonic Youth

With their performance art aesthetic and idiosyncratic approach to guitars (they’ve been known to prep their instruments with a screw-driver) noise-rock band Sonic Youth have been a mainstay of the NYC scene since the early 1980s. Their avant-garde cool factor laid the groundwork to get the likes of Nirvana, Beck and Pearl Jam onto major labels. Now, that’s influence.

Yeah Yeah Yeahs

The 21st Century art-rock/garage-punk scene wouldn’t be much without the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Their three albums are all over the Best Of lists, and vocals don’t get better than Karen O’s. Listen and swoon.

If there’s one thing this list shows it’s that New York’s boss when it comes to kickin’ tunes. But are there more we’ve missed? If so, don’t be shy. Let us know in the comments below.
