Sony eyeing on AMOLED displays?

It is a debate topic between the tech geeks when it comes to the various display types. Some say AMOLED displays are better and the others list the reasons to stick to regular TFT displays. However, we haven’t seen a phone with AMOLED display from Sony yet but it seems they’re molding a phone that packs AMOLED display. China Times reported that Sony will release its first smart phone with AMOLED display by the end of this year and it will have a 4.3 inch AMOLED panel.

AU Optronics (AUO) will deal with the supplying of displays for Sony smart phones during H2 2012. The displays will have ppi in between 250 and 300 and they will focus on to provide vivid colors and response speeds.

In my opinion, Sony has vibrant displays and their own Bravia Engine boosts the contrast and color levels preserving the clarity of the picture and the various tests has proved its genuineness so there is no need in a shifting their displays to AMOLED, where we get a little bit over saturated color levels. Still, from a business oriented view it’s essential that they shift to AMOLED since the main rivals market their phones with AMOLED displays.
