Another phone Sony Ericsson unveiled this evening is the XPERIA Neo (known as Hallon before the announcement). Neo is the direct successor of Symbian based Sony Ericsson Vivaz. Many similarities can be seen between both devices, “Human curvature” being the most important of the lot.
As mentioned earlier, the Vivaz successor is now supplied with an Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system. Unlike the Nexus S, Neo’s interface is neatly skinned by Sony Ericsson with their UXP customisations which include their sophisticated Android homescreen with options to create folders and add SE’s own created widgets.
Most important though, as the device is camera orientated, is the Exmor R camera module found on the back of the phone. The module is able to shoot stunning 8 megapixel photos and record HD movies. Thanks to the Exmor R sensor from Sony, the camera is a great performer in low light conditions. Just like the XPERIA arc, Neo uses the Sony’s Mobile Bravia Engine in order to enhance the quality of photos and videos on the 3.7″ LCD screen. Another great feature available to XPERIA Neo users is the HDMI connector, which allows the phone to mirror images straight from the phone onto an HDMI compatible TV. The phone will start shipping in March and will be available in at two colour variants, blue and red.
