It’s been a week or so since the Xperia S released worldwide and there is already complaints about the phone. Most of the buyers are complaining about a yellow tint towards the bottom of the display which is very prominent when the phone is outdoors or when it displays a white background.
Sony has officially addressed this issue in their forum. They say that the yellow tint shows up when the phone is subjected to temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius. Not all the phones has this trouble but it’s obvious that a small number of units suffers this. Anyway, Sony has decided to service the phones free of cost.
Official comment:
Sony Mobile Communications has identified that the display on a limited number of Xperia S smartphones may show a slight yellow tint if exposed to temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius. This is limited to a small number of units and the cause of this has been corrected. Any consumer observing this slight yellow tint on the display of their Xperia S is welcome to contact their local customer service centre and Sony Mobile Communications will resolve this at no cost to the consumer.
