We’ve gone a bit camera crazy this week following the launch of our Xperia Photo Academy.
Over the course of the next few weeks, photographers Greg Funnell, Ben Thomas and J.N. Silva will each be sharing a series of photography tips and tricks. Covering low light shooting, experimenting with contrast and getting creative with perspective, these tutorials will help you make the most of the camera tech inside your Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z3 Compact.
J.N. Silva, a New York based snapper specialising in contrast photography, is the first of our pros to give us some lessons on how to creatively shoot the boldest and most visual photos using a range of inventive methods. You can find all of the tips here.
Each week the Xperia Photo Academy will be running a competition, offering mobile photographers the chance to win an Xperia Z3. This week’s asks you to use some of J.N. Silva’s tips and tricks, before sharing your best contrast focused shots with us on our @SonyXperia Instagram page. Just submit photos with the #XperiaInContrast tag to enter and check out the Xperia Photo Academy hub to see some of the photos that have already been entered.
Now from photography to film – you may remember a few weeks ago we collaborated with FREEDOM, taking things to new heights with the world’s first recorded white-tailed-eagle flight. Well, Victor (that’s the name of the eagle) is at it again – this time strapping an Action Cam to it’s back and soaring over London to celebrate 50 years of the IUCN Red List of Endangered and Threatened Species.

Speaking of cities and spectacular views, our Global Imaging team has launched a new project – Future Of Cities. #FutureOfCities is a dedicated blog aiming to capture each and every hidden corner within today’s bustling cities – whether it’s urban beekeeping in London, roller discos in New York, hot tub cinemas in Los Angeles or busy commuting journeys across Beijing.
Future of Cities is designed to show that there is always extraordinary in the ordinary, and that beautiful photography can be captured around every corner. We want these photos to be shared so others can gain insight and explore how cities around the world are evolving and coping with large scale migrations.
Each of the individual stories are shared via our dedicated Tumblr page where you can learn a bit more about the spectacular transformation of urban environments through the eyes of the residents themselves. So go check it out for yourselves!
That’s it from us this week – have a great weekend!
