We’ve got a lot of photography stuff for you this week. The Sony World Photography Awards 2015 have now opened for entry. Last year saw French photographer and pooch-fanatic Sophie Gamand crowned as one of the winners, capturing the hearts of the judges with her wonderful portrait series of ‘Wet Dogs’.
Cute animals always make for great photographs, but it’s the light composition and sense of fun that really make these photos stand out. Sophie’s delightfully damp dogs beat a host of other beautiful shots last year in a shortlist that included photos from around the world that captured a range of touching moments. Sara Naomi Lewkowicz and Chen Li also picked up awards for their stunning photographs. If you’re feeling inspired, why not give it a go and enter this year’s Sony World Photography Awards?
From award-winning professionals to snap-happy tourists now and at Sony we’ve vowed to make poor holiday pics a thing of the past. We’ve already pin pointed the best locations for tourists to capture those memorable landmark snaps in The Big Apple and San Fran, now we’re bringing our #XperiaSpots campaign to the UK. We’ve mapped out the best places for you to capture beautiful UK landmarks in style, with our #XperiaSpots footprints located at Tower Bridge, Big Ben, Birmingham, The Beetham Tower and many more. Let us know what you find!
We’re not just big on photography though as team Action Cam has been at it again creating amazing videos. Pro BMX rider Nigel Sylvester showed us just what you can do with this kit, riding through the streets of Brooklyn – the town he calls home, Nigel shows off his talents by making every shot count and creating this awesome video.
Think you can capture some cool content too? Well you’re in luck – we’ve recently launched a new competition to celebrate our Xperia C3 – the world’s best selfie smartphone1. Reckon you can do better than our globe-trotting #PROselfies? Share your best ones with us on Instagram and you may just win an Xperia C3 – just make sure you include the hashtag!
That’s all from us, have a great weekend.
