In all the excitement of today’s X12 leak it would have been easy to miss a rather interesting comment Mobile-Review’s Eldar Murtazin made about the other handsets Sony Ericsson are planning on launching next year.

Eldar said that Sony Ericsson showed him seven handsets and from the tweet you can see that most are Android based. So far so good. However, Eldar then mentions that Sony Ericsson are again using their own custom UI and that the handsets are running older versions of Android. Not so good.

Timescape and Mediascape are actually pretty good, but if that comes at the price of an older version of Android I say that’s too high a price to pay. Of course these handsets that Eldar saw were no doubt prototypes so perhaps the finished products will be running Gingerbread, but as anyone who has ever owned an X10 can tell you, that is most definitely not a sure fire thing.

Last but not least, and I know most of you want to hear some partially negative things about this device and I don’t blame you. Nothing is perfect, and yes for some the Nokia Booklet is not the perfect device. But I can highlight some things that can be on the list of improvements for the RX-80 probably. Why bother all your customers with the SIM lock by AT&T, It’s very easy to crack save us the hassle and include a Nokia UI for the SIM connectivity.
