Good Designs – Unboxing SmartBand Talk and the Brownlee Boys beaten by a battery

This week we’ve got an exclusive Friday treat for you, our brand new unboxing video of SmartBand Talk. Following our announcement that the SmartBand Talk app has started rolling out on Google Play, we wanted to bring you a little more on what you get with our latest piece of wearable tech. Check out the video below…

Last Friday we showed you  two Xperia Z3s and two exhausted triathletes, but after a punishing first day just who will prevail in our #GoTheDistance endurance challenge.

The challenge was conceived as an effort to push the brothers to their physical limit and to test how far one single charge of Sony Mobile’s new Xperia Z3 can really last. We saw the boys swim, cycle and run (in conditions which would, quite honestly, put most of us off leaving the house) across the country as they made their way towards the Scottish border. There’s no rest for the wicked, or Olympians apparently, and the boys were up against it as they competed with their Xperia Z3 phones to see who could last for longer.

Day two began with an early morning swim in the freezing cold waters of Loch Lomand, Scotland where the boys were greeted with miserable grey skies and 47% battery from their Xperia Z3s. The duo then cycled and ran across the picturesque Scottish Highlands where they ended the 48-hour sporting extravaganza with an impressive 8% battery charge – just enough to call for a lift home!

Don’t believe just how durable the Xperia Z3 battery life really is? See for yourselves and catch all the action in the final video from the series below:

Xperia Z3 isn’t the only Sony product that has excelled this week – we’ve seen a range of our innovative products recognised by the 2014 Good Design Awards.

The Good Design Awards is an initiative organised by the Japanese Institute of Design that annually acknowledges the best in creative design from around the world; they recognise superior design whether that’s in electronic products and sports gear or bus stops and medical equipment.

It’s been another fantastic year for Sony with a range of our ground-breaking technologies and products, including Xperia Z2, Xperia Z2 Tablet and Lifelog, were acknowledged in this year’s Best 100 with two Sony products awarded the prestigious Good Design Gold Award, the  4K Ultra Short Throw Projector and DSC-QX Lens-style series. The Smart Tennis Sensor also picked up an award in the Future Design category.
