Part of the fun and giggles with Android is in checking for that shiny new update that you just now is sitting there waiting for you to download it. However, even when using the update checker in your settings menu waiting updates don’t always show up.
No worries because you can use a wee keypad shortcut to force your handset to check for such updates. Just key in the following code: *#*#2432546#8#
If the checkin is successful you should see a message appear saying ‘Checkin succeeded’ funnily enough. You can then go back to settings and check for your update again and if there is one available it will now appear.
This method seems to work for some and not others though. Some people have reported the checkin procedure simply not working whereas others have had no issue.
It’s also worth pointing out that this won’t magically create an update for you, it just forces any available update that is there to be made available to your handset.
