Yes, The Xperia arc owners get a Christmas present from the FreeXperia development team. It’s CM 9.0 alpha. If you don’t know what it is, it’s an ICS based ROM waiting for you to dowload.
Since it’s an alpha release, obviously there are features that are not working:
- CAMERA
- USB MTP – for now only from console
- USB MASS STORAGE – for now only from console
Features working (fully or partially):
- GRALLOC – with bugs
- AUDIO – ok – compatibility
- GPS – ok
- WIFI – ok – new wl12xx_mac80211
- TOUCH SCREEN – ok
- CWM RECOVERY 5.5 – ok
- Bluetooth – ok
- 3D – partial – sometimes crashes
- GSM – ok
- GSM DATA – buggy – for some networks works for some does not work
- HOTSPOT – ok – command line for now
- VIDEO DECODER – fully accelerated
Don’t get worried with the disabled features like the camera; it’s just an alpha ROM now but things can get improved, and it takes time. You can always give it a try, at least till we see the ICS release from Sony Ericsson.
