Originally founded back in 2010 by Benny Wong and Jonathan Wegener, both students at New York’s Columbia University, Timehop is designed to dial up the nostalgia factor letting you know what you were up to on this day; last year, and the year before that and the year before… you get the point.
Over the past few weeks we’ve seen Timehop on social streams all over the place; and although you may not want to remind yourself of that 16 year old haircut, that unnecessarily glittery shirt or that weird spot you had on your chin when in college, there’s no denying that reliving memories and looking back at old pictures is definitely a talking point.
The app works by looking back at your social updates from sites like Facebook, Twitter and Foursquare as well as hooking into parts of your phone, like your photo albums. It then analyses it all to give you a really good digest of whatever you were up to on a particular day in your history… and then you’re all set to cringe or reminisce away.
