There’s a real buzz here the Sony booth after we announced the global availability of the latest addition to the Xperia family yesterday – Xperia Tablet Z.
Xperia Tablet Z is the world’s slimmest and lightest* tablet – we’ve been describing it as “no-compromise”. What that really means, is that you get a consistent experience throughout design, hardware and software…
So, here’s a look at some of the stand-out features -
Design
Something we’re particularly proud of – Xperia Tablet Z is the world’s slimmest and lightest LTE tablet (boasting a trim 6.9mm frame and weighing in at just under 500g).
Xperia Tablet Z shares the same “Omnibalance” design as sibling, Xperia Z – every inch was crafted with precision, ensuring symmetry and balance throughout. It’s also just as durable – Xperia Tablet Z has the highest levels of water and dust resistance of any tablet**… Blogging in the bath? Walking and texting in the rain? No probs.
Signature Sony display and audio tech
Xperia Tablet Z has a 10.1 HD WUXGA (Widescreen Ultra Extended Graphics Array) Reality Display – it’s the work of Sony BRAVIA screen engineers, the same guys behind HD, Blu Ray, 3D and 4K.
The display is powered by Mobile BRAVIA Engine 2, our second iteration of this technology – it upscales content by enhancing contrast, increasing colour saturation and reducing noise to enhance the clarity and richness of each visual – try it with a standard YouTube video to see for yourself
We’ve also leveraged Sony’s expertise in audio – Xperia Tablet Z comes locked and loaded with four speaker outputs that use Sony’s S-Force Front Surround 3D and Sony’s Clear Audio+ mode to ensure every track is aurally optimised… rave away, however the device is held…
You also get Sony’s camera expertise; an 8MP rear camera featuring “Exmor R for mobile” as well as a 2MP HD front-facing camera for killer snaps whatever the weather. Put “Exmor R for mobile” to the test when video chatting – it works a treat, even in the most dimly-lit conditions.
Connectivity
Xperia Tablet Z is the most connected tablet available*** – in short, that means it has more connectivity options (NFC, Wifi, DNLA, Bluetooth to name but a few…) than any other – and that means you get a broader content experience.
It also makes use of Sony’s One-touch functions to let you ping content from one device to another (TV, smartphone, tablet and laptop) – you can use Xperia Tablet Z as a universal remote to control other devices, share snaps, tunes with a single touch
It’s worth noting, TV SideView is a new addition to Google play that uses second-screen connectivity to provide an entirely new way to interact with your TV. While enjoying your favourite series, you can read about the cast and related information – whilst FB liking / sharing and tweeting about it with your friends along the way…
Performance and hardware
Another thing we’re proud of, is the fact that Xperia Tablet Z is the first to include the Snapdragon S4 Pro asynchronous quad core processor, with a built in 4G/LTE modem. So, you get stutter-free performance even from the most graphically demanding games.
Just a with Xperia Z, Xperia Tablet Z features Battery STAMINA mode – it shuts down the apps you don’t need when you’re not using them, and can improve standby by 4 times or more – super smart.
