Have you had a chance to check out Sony Ericsson’s Xperia Games blog? With their recent announcement of 200 available games (and counting), consumers have another great place to find the latest news about Xperia gaming. And for developers working to get their games optimised for Xperia devices, such as through the Stand out from the crowd program, Developer World also sees this as fantastic opportunity to gain further exposure for your games. Jonas Petterson from the Sony Ericsson Developer Program explains more after the jump.
The Xperia™ Games blog gives you everything you need to know about games for the Xperia™ PLAY, beyond just the news, features and announcements. This also gives our developers yet another channel to further expand their reach to consumers. We spoke with Jonas Petterson, a Developer Program Senior Project Manager, to get his insights on how our developers and advanced users can benefit from this site.

I’m very excited that we have Xperia Games blog because it has benefits for many groups. Xperia™ users, our operators, and even curious customers now have a consolidated site to find all officially released Xperia games. Unlike Android Market™, every game listed has been fully tested and optimised for the Xperia™ PLAY, so users know they are downloading a quality game.
The Xperia Games blog will also keep a spotlight on the development teams behind all these great Xperia™ games. There will be exclusive interviews with big and small indie developers. The site will also include insider playing tips and cheats from developers themselves. Developers should further keep in mind that the Xperia Games blog also promotes cool games and rising stars from the Standout from the crowd program. In fact, you’ll find some of the program’s standout titles featured on the site right now, including Beyond Ynth, Trial Xtreme 2, Helium Boy, Serious Sam: Kamikaze Attack! and R-Type. Each has its own dedicated page that lists full game details: game information, game description, and a video/image gallery.
Let’s say you’re a small indie developer with a great game, and you’ve put it on Android Market. What’s your next step? Not sure? This is where Sony Ericsson can help, by giving you a little marketing exposure to amplify your offering. And the Xperia Games blog is just a drop in the bucket. Your game also has a chance to make it as a pre-load on Sony Ericsson phones, bundled with an Experience Pack, shown at marketing events, or listed on the Sony Ericsson Android Market Channel. We can even promote your game to our carriers and their customers. What’s more, we don’t take a percentage of your revenue – 100% belongs to you.
We’ve already provided some great exposure for several of our Standout games including Lame Castle from Be-Rad Entertainment and Hyperlight by CatfishBlues Games. Both games were featured in an official press release at Gamescom 2011, profiled as stories on Developer World, and promoted with their own videos on the Developer World YouTube channel. We also invited Standout developers CatfishBlues Games and Orange Pixel (creators of Jumpy, INC and Meganoid) to the event, where they demoed their games in our booth.
Interested? If yes, then I’d strongly encourage you to follow our Xperia game developer tips and recommendations, submit your game through our Standout from the crowd program, and get it tested. All these help to ensure your game becomes fully optimised for Xperia™ devices (to give the consumer a better experience) and gives you the best chance for getting your game onto the Xperia Games blog site… and more! And if you don’t have an Xperia™ device to develop with, don’t worry. You can borrow one for free though our through our Device Loaner program.
If you have any developer-related questions, feel free to post them in the comments section below. I’ll try to get back to you with an answer as soon as I can.
