The next Sony software rollout for Xperia Z1 and Xperia Z Ultra starts right about now*…

We’ve been working to blend our Sony Xperia software with Google’s Jelly Bean release to create some cool user experiences (if we say so ourselves) – in addition to a few performance tweaks here & there, some of the functionality you can look forward to includes:

• Google’s Android 4.3; Jelly Bean as standard – bringing Project Butter performance & UI optimisation and a smoother graphical experience

• Launched with Xperia Z1, we’re now bringing Sony’s Smart Social Camera to Xperia Z Ultra – our signature camera experience, that lets you download, access and enjoy “Xperia camera apps” directly from within the viewfinder

• We’re also uplifting Sony’s entire native app portfolio to the latest versions – bringing tweaked / improved / current experiences for (to name but a few): Messaging, MyXperia, Smart Connect, Small apps, TrackID, Sony Select and…

• Sony’s Media apps: WALKMAN, Album and Movies, with Sony Entertainment Network cloud service integration* - a more converged and full Sony entertainment experience – Sony Entertainment Network & PlayMemories integration with a more intuitive UI, offering seamless access to both local and cloud content

• The launch of our unique custom interface experience: “Xperia Themes”, with downloadable UI packs from Sony Select – more on this soon…

• The latest Android security enhancements, matched with Sony’s mobile enterprise solution: Xperia in Business

Our Android 4.3; Jelly Bean rollout for the remaining Sony Xperia products is right around the corner – we’ll be back with more details; bespoke feature sets and timings as things progress.

*As usual, timing & availability may vary by market & carrier

As Christmas is approaching and people are checking their (smart) watches wondering when it’s acceptable to head off to town for Christmas shopping, we’re bringing you the latest from this week in Sony.

Speaking of Christmas, our developer elves have been busy… Over in the US, we introduced the Sony Z Ultra Google Play edition running on KitKat (Android 4.4).

And they’ve also been busy cooking up a treat in the form of a WALKMAN app update that brings you enhanced playlist functionality, playlist sharing functions, 30 second previews in Music Unlimited’s library, and more.

Fancy the new BMW M4 Coupe for Christmas but don’t quite have the budget? No worries! The PlayStation team has been working with the talented people at BMW and as of this week you can test drive the shiny beast in Gran Turismo 6.

From speedy sports cars to Spidey… The Sony Pictures team released the official trailer for The Amazing Spiderman 2 this week, showing Spidey facing an overcharged villain whilst slamming into buildings and casually lifting vehicles. It’s… well… Amazing.

Katherine and the team behind this week’s episode of The Take Out talk about gravity gaming in Naught 2 and how American musician Lovett used 37 directors to make the music video for All the Time.

And finally… If you’ve been slacking and not done your Christmas shopping yet, here’s a list of our top six picks for this holiday season. You’re welcome.

That’s all, enjoy the weekend.

This is the third post in our mini-series looking at the many sides to our SmartWatch 2 phone remote and, with a new year on the way, what’s better than having some fitness apps up your sleeve ready for your January fitness regime?

But first…those of you who already own SmartWatch 2 will be pleased to know that we’ve recently launched an update of the SW2 app. The latest version features improved UI, larger fonts, auto light sensing, fast scroll, new watch faces and lots more. It’s a significant update so enjoy! You can either wait for your handset to auto install or download from Google Play.

Right then, on with the post. It’s time to beat the bulge with the latest SmartWatch fitness apps:

Runtastic PRO

It’s the app that every fitness freak needs! With Runtastic you can map and track fitness activities such as running and biking, but you can also track cardio workout progress such as time, distance, elevation, calories and more.

Using SmartWatch 2 you can keep an eye on your progress as you work out and while you’re at it, why not share your sports activities on Google+, Facebook or Twitter?

Walkmate

Count your steps every day and find out the distance you’ve walked and the calories you’ve burned. This app is seriously social – share your progress on your social channels so you can measure your performance (or just show off!) against your friends. SmartWatch 2 is there to keep you focussed as you go.

GPS Maps

… because there’s always a chance you get lost while going about your work-out routine. With GPS Maps for SmartWatch 2, you’ll be able to see your current location and navigate to where you need to be – all from the wrist.

Speedometer / Compass

Challenge yourself! Measure your run-time, distance and maximum speed. For those of you who struggle with a sense of direction, it even has a compass to show the direction of North in relation to the direction of where you’re going.

That’s all for this episode. Don’t forget to have a look at our previous SmartWatch posts featuring social and lifestyle apps. Next time, get yourself suited and booted as we’ll be focusing on the best SmartWatch 2 apps for business.

See you there.

Podczas wizyty Artur odwiedził m.in. plan naszej najnowszej reklamy, poznał Basię…

No i tablet Samsunga śmiga po LTE
