Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich coming to all 2011 Xperia devices
And today they confirmed that all 2011 Xperia phones will be updated to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, when it gets released by Google.
The Android best-of-both-worlds edition should come out in October or November this year, so we can expect the update early next year.
But there is no exact release date from Sony Ericsson yet.
There is not much to say about the changes Android 4.0 will bring to the phones as Google didn’t say that much about the changes yet.
This are great news and I can’t wait to have it on my Xperia Arc.

Android 4.0: SE say “no official decision made”
Earlier on we brought the rather exciting news that Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) was on its way to the 2011 Xperia range of phones next year. Rather disappointingly, Sony Ericsson have now issued a new statement saying:
“When it comes to future platforms of the Android OS, we will make them available to consumers in a timely manner, as long as they improve the user experience and are viable from a hardware point of view”
Which basically means that Sony Ericsson havent (officailly anyway) made up their minds, much like the Froyo debate that happened with the X10 line up, and we all know what the end result of that one was like. Somobile, however, are still hoping that Ice Cream Sandwich will find its way onto the 2011 Xperia line up.
My personal opinion? I think SE UK let it slip (much like SE Brazil regarding the Gingerbread update), but SE (International) are trying not to raise hopes.

Xperia™ Studio – remaking reality with Xperia™ arc

One thing I love about our smart phones is that they are open. That we as a manufacturer are not alone in defining how the phone is used and what the phone is used for. If you asked someone ten years ago what they used their mobile phone for, the obvious answer would be: “For phone calls and text messages.” That’s not the case anymore.
Ask the creative artists and intellectuals who have contributed to Xperia™ Studio what they use Xperia™ arc for and the reply will be: “To see the invisible colours in universe” or “To trigger an external gas flash when taking a photo”. Check out Xperia studio to see astrophysicists, artists, musicians and photographers go crazy with Xperia™ arc and really push the phones limits. Enjoy! I do:-)

350 Tonnes of Paper, 13,000 Trees and 75,000 Cubic Meters of Water

Did you know that by replacing the paper manual in a million of our phones with an electronic version we saved 350 tonnes of paper, which is the equivalent of 13,000 trees and 75,000 cubic meters of water?
In our recently published Sony Ericsson 2010 Sustainability Report you can find out more about what we are doing to lower carbon emissions, drive forward GreenHeart™ and improve our supply chain CSR.
Click on the link to have a look:
http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/download/1/102/495/1/1314689687/SustainabilityReport2010.pdf
The report details Sony Ericsson’s corporate vision on sustainability and covers the company’s activities in three distinct dimensions: Corporate (economic), Planet (environmental) and People (society). We are proud to be able to say that Sony Ericsson continues to be an industry leader in the sustainability space and we are committed to take these efforts further in 2011 and throughout our Xperia portfolio.
We hope you enjoy reading the report! And if you have any comments or questions, please let us know in the comment section.
