Xperia U is the most awaited smart phone in India for it has a 1 GHz dual core processor and is expected to get a reasonable price tag in the country.  The transparent band on the Xperia U that can illuminate itself according to the prominent colors on the display is capable of grabbing some attention. Also the phone packs a 5MP rear camera (no Exmor R sensor),  a beautiful 3.5 inch display and 512 MB of RAM.

The Times of India reports that the phone is all set to release in India and will hit the stores around the country in two weeks. The phone is already available for pre order on letsbuy and flipkart for Rs. 17,399. Xperia U would sell like hot cakes since the price seems reasonable.

Also it is interesting that there is no information about Xperia P which was announced along with Xperia U.

Announced in January, Xperia ion was initially an LTE smart phone for the US market. After a month of its announcement, news emerged that the phone is to be available to the rest of the world as well. Anyway, there has not been an official statement from Sony regarding the release dates of Xperia ion till date.

Now we have a vague idea about the release date of the LTE smart phone from Sony. A Google ad says that the phone is all set for its release in the United States this June. The phone will be carrier bound to AT&T. The ad says, “Coming Exclusively to AT&T in June”.

AnDevCon III is just around the corner, and that means a lot of Android developers are ramping up to go to San Francisco and dive into the latest Android developer and technology discussions. Sony and the Developer World team will also be there, and we have some goodies in stock for you – all our latest products on showcase, an inspiring and useful dev session and the chance for developers interested in creating app extensions to get a SmartWatch for free! Read on for more details on the event.

AnDevCon is all about Android developers
AnDevCon III is happening from the 14^th of 17^th of May at the Hyatt Regency in Burlingame, California. The event is one of the most influential Android conferences in the world. As a major sponsor, we’ll have our own booth (#406) where you can try out our latest smartphones and Smart Extras, including the new Sony SmartWatch.

Don’t miss the Sony SmartWatch developer session
If you come visit us at the booth, you’ll also have an opportunity to chat with Sony business managers and developer engineers. Most importantly, we’re hosting a developer session on Wednesday, May 16^th at 3:30 PM where Magus Helgstrand from the Sony Mobile Companion Products team will teach you how to develop your own SmartWatch app extensions. By doing so, you can create new, innovative use cases and get better visibility by getting exposed in the SmartWatch ecosystem. For more information on this session, and to get some hands on demonstrations of other new Sony products, come to booth #406.

Apply to get SmartWatch
Starting shortly, we will also setup a SmartWatch developer incentive, where you can apply to get a SmartWatch for free if you are planning to develop an app extension for SmartWatch. If you notify us about your app extension and once you’ve uploaded it to Google Play, we will send you a complimentary headset (if you’ve created a substantial app extension). Thmost interesting new app extensions will also have the chance to get promoted in Sony’s online marketing channels!

More information about this incentive will be published shortly on this site. But the best thing is, that if you’re attending AnDevCon, you can come talk to us at the booth and apply to get a SmartWatch straight away!

Get a discount on your conference pass
It’s not too late to register for AnDevCon. As a compliment, you can use the discount code SONY on the AnDevCon registration page and you’ll save $200 US off the full conference pass!

So will you be going to AnDevCon this year? What are you most looking forward to?
