Xperia Transfer Mobile hits the big screen

In February we upgraded our Xperia Transfer app to make it mobile, allowing you to wirelessly transfer all of your data from an old mobile phone to your shiny new Xperia. Well, now we’re delighted to announce that from launch, Xperia Z2 Tablet owners will be able ditch their old iOS and Android devices, safe in the knowledge that transferring contacts, apps and photos is now a pain free process.

We know that setting up any mobile device can be a stressful and time-consuming process. Transferring contacts, pictures, music and other content can be frustrating… with the most recent upgrade to Xperia Transfer Mobile to include Xperia Z2 Tablet, we’ve made it that bit easier… again.

All you have to do is download the app, follow the step-by step instruction to pair your old device with your new Xperia Z2 Tablet using either PIN Code or NFC (for Android devices), or you can connect via a USB transfer cable (for iOS), choose what content you want to transfer and let the app do the rest. It really is that straightforward. Watch the video above for a bit more info.

You can download the app here, and start transferring your music, photos, videos, diary dates, contacts and apps, along with all of those other necessities straight away.  Oh, and should some of the iOS apps not be available for Android, Xperia Transfer Mobile will cleverly suggest the Android equivalent for you so that you don’t have to miss out on any day-to-day app addictions.

Find out more about Xperia Transfer Mobile on the Sony site.

Celebrating Michael Jackson’s new album XSCAPE, with Xperia Z2

It’s official – yesterday, Epic Records, in conjunction with the Estate of Michael Jackson, announced that it will release XSCAPE, an album of new music by the internationally beloved music icon and King of Pop, Michael Jackson.

To celebrate the launch of this album on May 13, and as part of a unique ‘One Sony’ collaboration, Sony Mobile customers of select new devices, including Xperia Z2 and Xperia Z1S, will be able to get XSCAPE free1 on the day of its digital release, through the Xperia™ Lounge app.

Sony Mobile will not just be providing customers of the latest Xperia Z2 smartphone with incredible access to the new album through this collaboration, they will also benefit from an exceptional audio experience. Sony audio engineers consulted with visionary Epic Records Chairman and CEO L.A. Reid to re-create the centre seat experience of his recording studio on the Xperia Z2 so that users can hear the music just as its creators intended.

The sound was optimised using the studio’s console and main monitors as a reference point for the audio tuning on the Xperia Z2 and the MDR-NC31EM headset (bundled with the smartphone2).

Xperia Z2 users can access these audio settings with just one touch, simply by selecting the ClearAudio+ mode. The tuning settings have also been burnt to the digital signal processor on the optional Bluetooth® headset SBH-80. The result? A listening experience as it was intended to be heard.

So if you’re anything like us, you’ll be itching for this to drop – in the meantime, be sure to check out a first sneak-peek / listen to one of the new tracks; “Slave to the Rhythm”, as featured in our Xperia Z2 brand film above.

We’ll be bringing you more on our exclusive partnership over the coming weeks – so stay tuned!

Xperia-Z2-Michael-Jackson-Featured1 The promotional offer is only valid with the purchase of select new Xperia devices. Availability may differ by market – please check your local Sony Mobile site for all eligible devices. The offer is not transferable and may not be sold or bartered. The next Sony software rollout for Xperia Z Ultra, Xperia Z1 and Xperia Z1 Compact starts right about now*…

We’ve been working to build new Sony experiences on Google’s KitKat release to create some neat / sweet features (if we say so ourselves) – in addition to a few performance tweaks here & there, some of the functionality you can look forward to includes:

  • If you’ve got a Sony PlayStation 4, you might recognize our new user interface – we’ve added the same sleek launch animation and livewallpaper across the lock and home screens
  • We’re also uplifting Sony’s entire native app portfolio to the latest versions – bringing tweaked / improved / current experiences for (to name but a few): Messaging, MyXperia, Smart Connect, Small apps, TrackID, TrackID TV, Sony Select, Smart Social Camera and…
  • Sony’s Media apps: WALKMAN, Album and Movies, with Sony Entertainment Network cloud service integration* – a more converged and full Sony entertainment experience – Sony Entertainment Network & PlayMemories integration with a more intuitive UI, better download speeds, and more!

Next up, we’ll start rolling Android 4.4 KitKat for Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia Tablet Z – and Xperia ZR – from mid-Q2.

And… we’re also excited to tell you that we’ll make Android 4.4; KitKat available for Xperia T2 Ultra, Xperia E1 and Xperia M2 – we’ll be back with more details; bespoke feature sets and timings as things progress.

Project Morpheus, exclusive PlayStation TV shows and the best in fluffy dog games

If yesterday wasn’t enough to put a smile on your face (International Day of Happiness in case you missed it), here’s a few info pieces that’ll make you happy

Over at the PlayStation blog, Project Morpheus was announced earlier on this week. Everybody knows that anytime anybody puts a ‘Project’ in front of a word, it’s bound to be good. Our current prototype for Project Morpheus is a head mounted virtual reality system that works with PlayStation 4 - it has sensors that can track head orientation and movement, meaning when your head moves, the virtual reality world moves with you.

PlayStation is more than gaming. Drawing on its Sony Entertainment services, Sony is now adding original TV shows for PlayStation. The shows, such as the planned supernatural drama series ‘Powers,’ will be available exclusively to PlayStation 4.

Sony may be pulling its content together through PlayStation 4 but we’re also keen on taking stuff apart. Last week, our friends over at Sony Electronics did a teardown of Sony’s RX10 Camera. For those of you who are keen to take a look inside, check out the video below:

For more on the latest and greatest, have a look at (and subscribe to) this week’s The Take Out, where Eoghan talks about Buddy & Me, a cute game about a fluffy dog and a boy, but leaves us with a cliff-hanger re: the grand finale of the game. He also talks about balls (animated ones, people) and forces himself to refrain from making any untimely jokes (kind of…).

Sony picks up a host of Red Dot Design Awards 2014

Currently in their 61st year, the Red Dot Design Awards are one of the world’s largest and most renowned product design competitions. The awards celebrate the finest in product design from around the world, so it was with immense pride that we found out that both our XperiaTM Z Ultra Android smartphone and our QX lens-style camera series for smartphones have been rewarded with Red Dot’s ‘Best of the Best’ awards for this year.

We caught up with Naoe Kaneta,Saki Kanada and Takahiro Tsuge, three of the designers behind Xperia Z Ultra and the QX series respectively, to catch their reaction following the announcement:

Naoe Kaneta:
“I’m delighted! It was such a rewarding experience creating this product, for me and everyone else who worked on it. With this award, we’ve really highlighted the strength of Xperia series as a design concept. I’m very pleased that this model received such a significant award and I’m grateful to everyone involved.”

Saki Kanada:
“This amazing product owes its design to the imagination and dedication of everyone who went on this journey. Many thanks to the design team of Xperia Z Ultra and congratulations to all of the people involved.”

Takahiro Tsuge:
“Despite being a simple cylindrical shape, the design of QX series was a great challenge and was a success thanks to many people. The honour of receiving this award goes to all of the people who were involved.”

Alongside these products that scooped the top prize, Xperia Z1, Xperia M, Xperia C and a number of other Sony products also stood out from the 4,815 entries to be awarded Red Dot Design Awards for high design quality, as well as an Honourable Mention going to Sony’s Smartwatch 2.

Here’s a full list of the Sony products that were recognised with awards from this year’s expert panel:

First, awards for Sony Mobile. Now awards for Sony PlayStation!

They keep coming. Following our successes at MWC ’14 and the iF Product Design Awards, last night we were recognised as “Best Manufacturer” by Mobile News at its annual ceremony in London! Obviously we’re extremely grateful, and want to thank everyone who worked so hard on all our products this past year. Congratulations also to our brothers at Sony PlayStation, whose exclusive title The Last of Us cleaned up at this week’s Video Game BAFTAS.

The Last of Us, released on PlayStation 3 last year, picked up 5 awards including Best Video Game, Best Action & Adventure Game, Best Storyline, Best Audio Achievement and Best Vocal Performance by voice-actor Ashley Johnson.

It was also a successful night for PlayStation Vita, with the super-fun Tearaway picking up three awards, including Best Mobile Game, Best Artistic Achievement and Best Innovation.

Oh, and don’t forget to check out this week’s Take Out Video, featuring Godzilla, Bryan Cranston, a new tune from COMA, and, bizarrely, a stickman!

- sprawdzać saldo i wartość ostatnich faktur

- włączać i wyłączać usługi dodatkowe
