Przedstawiciel PLAY LUBLIN

Sobota, niedziela i kawałeczek poniedziałku (6-8 września).

For the second installment of our ‘App of the month’ series, we would like to introduce you to Jink.

Jink is an easy location-sharing app with a twist. It combines simple location-sharing with messaging to make it easier for you to meet up with friends.  Jink has been designed to help you track down your friend in a city you may not be familiar with – perfect for those informal city meetings, after work drinks or, if you’re lucky, first dates!

Unlike its competitors, Jink does not require any form of sign up. Your phone number acts as your Jink ID, which makes sharing your location and inviting friends to do the same, as easy as sending a text or making a call.

Jink values your privacy, ensuring you can only invite someone to “Jink” with you if you have their mobile number – you choose who to share your location with.

Like most location-based apps, Jink uses GPS signals to determine your location. You are then able to view a map featuring icons of yourself and your fellow Jink user that moves in real time with you. Once you have successfully found your target, or if you are inactive for over two hours, the location-sharing feature automatically ends, making Jink extremely battery-efficient.

Jink’s messaging feature enables you to chat while on the move, without having to switch back and forth from messages to the app. Unlike Apple’s Find My Friend and Android’s Google Latitude, Jink works across both iOS and Android platforms allowing seamless communication between both devices.

But it’s the clear and easy-to-use interface that we like most about this app. Your location, meeting place and contact are displayed clearly and intuitively, so you can download this app and get up to speed in no time.

Although currently in its Beta phase, we tested Jink on Xperia Z2 over a number of days and it worked perfectly.

Jink is available now in selected markets from Google play.

It’s that time of year again where our PlayStation team is getting all excited about one of the biggest gaming events of the year – gamescom. Gamers and enthusiasts from across Europe will be heading to the annual exhibition in Cologne, Germany, where there’ll no doubt be a host of exciting announcements. We’re really keen to wet the appetite for what’s coming over the next 12 months and beyond – so keep an eye on Cologne.

If you can’t make it to Germany don’t panic, you can tune in live to our dedicated gamescom hub at 6.00pm BST/7.00pm CET on Tuesday 12th August.

If gaming isn’t your thing, (we’re not sure why it wouldn’t be) how about film making? For those of you who’ve enjoyed the stunning trailer of ‘Lucy’ featuring Scarlett Johansson and Morgan Freeman, well you can thank the Sony F65 – our top-end 8K motion picture camera. Renowned director of photography, Thierry Arbogast, who was working with director Luc Besson, shot the whole film with this incredible piece of kit. If you want to learn  more,  check out Thierry talking capturing and production with the team.

More interested in watching films than making ‘em? Well, you’re in luck too as the wait is finally (nearly) over. Over the next few days, The Amazing Spider-Man^TM 2 is being released on the PlayStation store, meaning you can download the witty web slinger’s latest blockbuster and view it whenever you want. Note that launch dates do vary, but you can see the release schedule here.

Before you head off to enjoy the weekend make sure you send us your #proselfie on Instagram for the chance to get your hands on an Xperia C3 – this weekend’s your last chance! So send us a selfie that’s just that little bit out of the ordinary and you may just get your hands on one of our latest Xperia devices.

That’s all from us, have a great weekend.

The next Sony User Experience upgrade for Xperia E1 & Xperia E1 Dual starts right about now*…

We’ve been working to build new Sony experiences on Google’s KitKat release to create some neat / sweet features (if we say so ourselves) – in addition to a few performance tweaks here & there, some of the functionality you can look forward to includes:

• Google’s Android 4.4; KitKat as standard – bringing performance & UI optimisation…
• We’ve added our tweaked Status Bar and Quick Settings… now more intuitive and customisable (and pretty easy on the eye)… cleaned up to ensure you only get the notifications you really need
• If you’ve got a Sony PlayStation 4, you might recognize our new user interface – we’ve added the same sleek launch animation and livewallpaper across the lock and home screens
• Better storage choice – you now have the option to easily move applications from internal memory to SD card – we recognised the need to have more control over your content… as something particularly useful for devices with slightly less space
• We’re also uplifting Sony’s entire native app portfolio to the latest versions – bringing tweaked / improved / current experiences for (to name but a few): Messaging, Smart Connect, TrackID, Sony Select, and Battery STAMINA Mode, Sony’s Media apps: WALKMAN, Album and Movies
• And proving pretty popular, now totaling over 2 million downloads (!) – our unique custom interface experience: “Xperia Themes”, with downloadable UI packs from Sony Select – skin up to 280 assets across your Xperia smartphone with a variety of styles…

Next up, it’s Xperia M2 (& M2 dual) – stay tuned!
