#SonyIFA: The story so far…

Three new smartphones, a new compact tablet, new SmartWear, new apps. It’s been a big week of announcements and we’ve been privileged to share it with hundreds of you in Berlin – journalists, bloggers, analysts, tech-heads all, we salute you.

If you weren’t lucky enough to be taking in the sights, sounds and smartphones of Berlin, or you missed our live feed of the conference, don’t worry we’ve got it all covered for you below.

Where to begin…

Well for starters, we launched our brand new Xperia™ Z3 series of smartphones – Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z3 Compact, and judging by the feedback we’ve seen, it looks like you lot like them almost as much as we do! Described as “sleek,” “beautiful,” (ITProPortal) and even “sexy”, it was great to see you all so excited by it.

For those of you who’d prefer a smaller handset (or if you have slightly smaller hands) we also introduced the new Xperia Z3 Compact. Smaller in size but providing premium features throughout, “don’t let its diminutive stature fool you” (The Verge), it packs quite the punch.

We finished off our “hat-trick” (PC World) of Z3 products with the new “svelte” Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact which, according to (Wired), “might well be the lightest and thinnest tablet” around. It’s also waterproof too.

The reaction to Xperia E3, really speaks for itself, according to Pocket Lint it is ‘The Xperia E3 is a good looking device that brings many of Xperia range’s design features to a more entry-level product.’ There’s a lot of really cool things about this phone especially ‘the shake to start’ function, which allows you to set an app that’s woken by just shaking the phone.

SmartWear is a huge and growing area for Sony and the reveal of both SmartWatch 3 and SmartBand Talk only serve to reinforce this. SmartWatch 3 ‘is a pretty nice looking timepiece with a stainless steel back panel that give it a high quality feel.’ (PC) There’s a lot of love for SmartBand Talk too ‘the microphone and speaker allow you to make calls through the band, which is helpful if your phone is out of reach’ not to forget it has ‘a new built-in accelerometer and altimeter sensor to give you a more accurate overview of your physical activity, including walking, running, and climbing.’ So it really is incredible for you all fitness lovers. (PC)

Our friends in the home entertainment team joined the party with the S90B-75 4K curved TV – it’s 75 inches from corner to corner and every detail is designed to make you “feel like you’re really part of the action.” (Mirror) And not to be outdone, Sony’s digital camera gurus got involved as well with two new lens-style cameras, the QX1 and the QX30, offering “Great news for professional photographers looking for a backup device” (Recombu)

And of course we had to end with the unbelievable show and tell of the Smart EyeGlass prototype. If you’ve not seen this already you have to check it out.

That’s all from us, have a good one!
