Sony at #MWC15 – Roundup

What. A. Week. Mobile World Congress never disappoints, and 2015’s show was no different.

Earlier in the week, Monday, 2nd March to be precise, we announced our latest flagship device, the World’s brightest1, lightest and slimmest2 tablet – Xperia Z4 Tablet. We also introduced the world to our Xperia M4 Aqua, offering “flagship features for a mid-range price”. We couldn’t be happier with how both products have been received and after carrying out more than 150 interviews with industry leading journalists and analysts at our Sony booth we’ve seen some cracking reviews turn up in BGR, Gizmodo, PocketLint and Android Authority amongst a host of other outlets.

We were also treated to Kazuo Hirai, Hiroki Totoki and Dennis van Schie hosting an Executive Welcome that outlined Sony Mobile’s approach to the mobile industry. For those of you that were unable to be there, we capture the speeches in full, which you can watch below.

Part of the reason we enjoy these big trade shows (apart from getting to meet a host of the industry’s media-types) is that it gives us a chance to capture and create some fun and engaging content. One of the highlights at this year’s MWC was catching up with Myriam Meloni, an award winning WPO photographer who had been exploring Barcelona with her Xperia Z3 Compact. Her shots of the city are absolutely stunning, so it’s definitely worth a look and a read of her ‘Everyday Extraordinary’ project, which we’ve captured here.

It wasn’t just Myriam who had a wander around the city though. After hearing about how light our Xperia Z4 Tablet is (389g if you’re curious), we decided we’d go out ourselves and put it to the test. What followed was an unusual day involving helium, balloons, fishing wire and the beautiful back drop of the Fira Montjuic. The resulting video can be viewed below, but we do hasten to add (and we can’t believe we have to say this), that helium based adventures are not covered by your warranty, so don’t try this at home. Or in front of a giant fountain…

So, that’s it from us in Barcelona this year. For those of you that were unable to attend the show, or to swing past our booth, you can capture some of our best bits in the video below.

Adios!
